Black Bolt Elite Trainer Box brings the Pokémon of the Unova region together in a collector-focused package filled with booster packs, gameplay accessories, and a special Thundurus promo card.

Released on July 18, 2025, Black Bolt is one half of a special Unova-focused release alongside Scarlet & Violet—White Flare. Together, the two expansions feature the Pokémon first discovered in the Unova region.

The Black Bolt Elite Trainer Box gives collectors nine booster packs to explore the expansion, along with a full-art foil Thundurus promo card and a complete selection of Pokémon TCG accessories.

For fans of Unova, Zekrom, Thundurus and the wider Black Bolt collection, the ETB offers several different ways to enjoy the expansion.

What Is the Black Bolt Elite Trainer Box?

Unlike a simple Booster Bundle, the ETB combines booster packs with card sleeves, Energy cards, dice, condition markers and storage.

The box is also built around the Black Bolt theme, giving collectors a coordinated set of accessories to use with their cards.

What Comes Inside the Black Bolt ETB?

The Black Bolt Elite Trainer Box contains a combination of sealed booster packs and practical Pokémon TCG accessories.

1. Nine Black Bolt Booster Packs

The ETB contains nine Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt booster packs.

These packs contain randomized cards from the Black Bolt expansion.

For collectors, nine packs provide multiple opportunities to discover different Pokémon, Trainer cards and higher-rarity cards from the set.

However, the contents of the booster packs are random. The ETB does not guarantee a particular chase card or rarity.

The fixed card in the box is the Thundurus promo.

2. Full-Art Foil Thundurus Promo Card

One of the most recognizable parts of the Black Bolt ETB is the full-art foil Thundurus promo card.

Thundurus is one of the Legendary Pokémon associated with the Unova region.

The promo gives the ETB a dedicated collectible card that is separate from the cards randomly inserted into the nine booster packs.

For collectors, this makes the Thundurus card an important part of the product’s identity.

3. 65 Black Bolt-Themed Card Sleeves

The ETB includes 65 card sleeves.

The quantity is enough to sleeve a standard 60-card Pokémon TCG deck while leaving five additional sleeves.

The sleeves are designed around the Black Bolt theme and can be used to protect cards during gameplay.

Collectors can also keep the sleeves sealed or preserve them with the rest of the ETB accessories.

4. 45 Pokémon TCG Energy Cards

The Black Bolt ETB includes 45 Pokémon TCG Energy cards.

Energy cards are essential components of Pokémon TCG decks.

Having a supply of Energy cards inside the Elite Trainer Box makes the product useful for players who are building or modifying decks.

It also means that the ETB is more than a simple pack-opening product.

5. Six Damage-Counter Dice

The box contains six damage-counter dice.

These dice allow players to track damage placed on Pokémon during games.

They are part of the standard gameplay accessories provided with this Elite Trainer Box.

6. Competition-Legal Coin-Flip Die

The Black Bolt ETB also includes one competition-legal coin-flip die.

Certain Pokémon TCG effects require players to flip a coin.

A coin-flip die provides a practical way to handle these effects during a game.

7. Two Plastic Condition Markers

Two plastic condition markers are included.

These markers help players keep track of special conditions affecting Pokémon during gameplay.

Combined with the dice, Energy cards and sleeves, they give players a basic collection of accessories needed for organized play.

8. Black Bolt Player’s Guide

The ETB includes a player’s guide to the Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt expansion.

The guide provides useful information for exploring the expansion and learning about the cards available in the set.

For collectors, it can also be useful as a checklist-style reference when opening packs and organizing cards.

9. Collector’s Box and Four Dividers

The Black Bolt ETB includes a sturdy collector’s box with four dividers.

The box can be used to organize cards and accessories after opening the product.

The dividers make it easier to separate different parts of a collection.

For example, collectors could organize their cards into:

• Pokémon cards
• Trainer cards
• Energy cards
• Duplicate cards
• Cards being prepared for decks

This gives the ETB continued usefulness after the booster packs have been opened.

10. Pokémon TCG Live Code Card

A Pokémon TCG Live code card is also included.

This adds a digital component to the physical Pokémon TCG experience.

The code card is separate from the physical cards and accessories contained in the box.

What Is Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt?

Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt is one half of a special Unova-focused Pokémon TCG release.

It is paired with Scarlet & Violet—White Flare, with each expansion featuring its own exclusive card pool.

The two expansions together focus on every Pokémon first discovered in the Unova region.

This makes Black Bolt particularly interesting for collectors who want to build a complete Unova-themed collection.

Zekrom ex and the Unova Legendary Pokémon

One of the major Pokémon associated with Black Bolt is Zekrom ex.

Zekrom is one of Unova’s most recognizable Legendary Pokémon and represents the region’s connection to ideals.

The official Black Bolt product information specifically highlights Zekrom ex and other Unova Legendary and Mythical Pokémon.

Other notable Pokémon associated with the expansion include:

• Zekrom ex
• Thundurus
• Serperior ex
• Meloetta ex
• Other Unova Pokémon

This creates a broad collecting theme that extends beyond a single Pokémon.

The Unova Collection

One of the defining features of Black Bolt and White Flare is their focus on the Unova Pokédex.

Pokémon describes the two expansions as featuring card pools that together include every Pokémon first discovered in Unova.

This gives collectors a clear long-term goal.

Instead of focusing only on the most valuable or highest-rarity cards, collectors can also work toward assembling a complete collection of Unova Pokémon.

Illustration Cards and Special Artwork

Black Bolt includes special illustration treatments for Pokémon from the Unova region.

The official product showcase encourages collectors to look for special illustrations and Poké Ball-pattern parallel cards.

These variations add another dimension to the collecting experience.

A collector could focus on:

• Standard versions
• Illustration Rare cards
• Special Illustration Rare cards
• Poké Ball-pattern cards
• Higher-rarity Pokémon ex
• Black White Rare cards
• Completing the Unova Pokémon collection

Black White Rare Cards

Black Bolt and White Flare also introduce the Black White Rare, or BWR, rarity.

The Black Bolt expansion uses the black-themed version of this special rarity, while White Flare uses the corresponding white treatment.

These cards provide another distinctive collecting category within the paired Unova expansions.

The Black Bolt product is particularly notable for collectors interested in monochrome-style premium artwork.

Black Bolt Elite Trainer Box for Collectors

The ETB offers several different collecting opportunities.

Building a Black Bolt Collection

The nine booster packs provide randomized opportunities to discover cards from the expansion.

Because Black Bolt is part of the larger Unova-focused release, collectors can also use the packs to work toward a broader Unova collection.

Collecting Thundurus

The fixed full-art Thundurus promo gives the ETB a dedicated card that is not dependent on booster-pack pulls.

This is especially relevant to collectors who enjoy Legendary Pokémon from the Unova region.

Keeping the ETB Sealed

The Elite Trainer Box can also be collected as a sealed product.

Keeping it unopened preserves the original combination of booster packs, promo card, accessories and collector’s box.

Black Bolt ETB for Pokémon TCG Players

The Elite Trainer Box is also designed with gameplay in mind.

The included accessories can be used during Pokémon TCG matches:

• 65 card sleeves
• 45 Energy cards
• Six damage-counter dice
• One coin-flip die
• Two condition markers
• Collector’s box
• Dividers

The nine booster packs can also add cards to a player’s collection.

However, the ETB is not a ready-to-play deck. The booster packs contain randomized cards, so players still need to build a deck from their available cards.

Black Bolt ETB vs Booster Bundle

The Black Bolt Elite Trainer Box and Booster Bundle are designed for different purposes.

A Booster Bundle focuses primarily on booster packs.

The ETB adds a promo card and a complete set of gameplay accessories.

The nine booster packs provide the opening experience.

The Thundurus promo adds a fixed collectible.

The sleeves and accessories support gameplay.

The collector’s box and dividers provide storage.

Together, these components make the ETB both a sealed collectible and a practical Pokémon TCG product.
