Pokémon TCG Combined Powers Premium Collection: Complete Guide

The Pokémon TCG: Combined Powers Premium Collection brings three legendary Pokémon from the Johto region together in one impressive collection. Lugia ex, Ho-Oh ex, and Suicune ex take center stage, giving collectors a product built around some of Pokémon’s most recognizable Legendary Pokémon.

Released on February 23, 2024, this Premium Collection includes seven foil cards, an oversized Lugia ex card, and 11 Pokémon TCG booster packs. The featured cards are presented as part of the collection’s special promotional lineup.

Whether you enjoy collecting Legendary Pokémon, opening booster packs, or displaying oversized cards, the Combined Powers Premium Collection offers several different elements in one box.

What Is the Combined Powers Premium Collection?

The Combined Powers Premium Collection is a special Pokémon TCG product centered on three Johto Legendary Pokémon: Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Suicune.

The product combines collectible foil cards with booster packs and an oversized display card. It also includes a foil Mr. Mime and three foil Pokémon Tool cards, making the collection more than just a three-Pokémon showcase.

Combined Powers Premium Collection contents

Inside the box, you get:

• 1 foil Lugia ex card
• 1 foil Ho-Oh ex card
• 1 foil Suicune ex card
• 1 foil Mr. Mime card
• 3 foil Pokémon Tool cards
• 1 oversized foil Lugia ex card
• 11 Pokémon TCG booster packs

That means the collection contains seven foil cards in total, plus the oversized Lugia ex.

Lugia ex Takes the Spotlight

Among the three Legendary Pokémon, Lugia ex gets an additional display piece in the form of an oversized foil card.

Lugia has been an important Pokémon across several generations of the Pokémon franchise. Its connection with the Johto region dates back to Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, where it became closely associated with the Whirl Islands and the legendary birds.

In this collection, Lugia appears both as a regular-size foil card and as an oversized card.

Why Lugia is important to the collection

The Lugia elements give collectors:

• A featured Lugia ex foil card
• An oversized Lugia ex for display
• A prominent Johto Legendary Pokémon
• A centerpiece for a Legendary Pokémon collection

The oversized card is particularly useful for collectors who enjoy displaying Pokémon TCG cards outside of a traditional binder.

Ho-Oh ex Joins Lugia ex

Ho-Oh is another major Legendary Pokémon from Johto.

Known for its connection with rainbows and the Johto region, Ho-Oh provides a natural counterpart to Lugia in the Combined Powers collection.

The box includes a foil Ho-Oh ex card, giving collectors a dedicated card featuring this legendary Pokémon.

Having Lugia and Ho-Oh together is also a nice nod to the pair’s long-standing connection within the Pokémon franchise.

For collectors building a Johto-themed binder, these two cards can serve as prominent additions.

Suicune ex Adds a Water-Type Legendary

The third featured Legendary Pokémon is Suicune ex.

Suicune is one of the three Legendary beasts introduced in the Johto region. Its Water typing gives the collection another elemental theme alongside the Flying/Psychic associations traditionally connected with Lugia and the Fire/Flying associations of Ho-Oh.

The Combined Powers Premium Collection includes a foil Suicune ex card alongside Lugia ex and Ho-Oh ex.

This gives the product a trio of Legendary Pokémon rather than focusing on only one character.

The three Legendary Pokémon

Pokémon	Region	Featured in Collection
Lugia ex	Johto	Foil card + oversized foil card
Ho-Oh ex	Johto	Foil card
Suicune ex	Johto	Foil card

Together, these three Pokémon form the central theme of the Premium Collection.

Mr. Mime Makes a Surprise Appearance

The collection isn’t limited to Legendary Pokémon.

A foil Mr. Mime card is also included.

Mr. Mime is a Psychic-type Pokémon originally introduced in Generation I. Its inclusion provides a different character alongside the three Johto Legendary Pokémon.

For collectors, this means the guaranteed cards aren’t all centered on the same generation or Pokémon type.

The Mr. Mime card also adds variety to the collection and gives collectors another foil card to add to their binders.

Three Foil Pokémon Tool Cards

Another unusual part of the product is the inclusion of three foil Pokémon Tool cards.

Pokémon Tools are Trainer cards that can provide additional effects when attached to Pokémon. In the Combined Powers Premium Collection, the Tool cards receive foil treatment.

This gives the collection a gameplay-related element in addition to its focus on Legendary Pokémon.

For collectors, the foil treatment makes the cards visually different from ordinary non-foil Trainer cards.

11 Pokémon TCG Booster Packs

The Combined Powers Premium Collection includes 11 Pokémon TCG booster packs.

This is one of the biggest parts of the product.

Unlike the guaranteed foil cards, the contents of the booster packs are not predetermined. The expansion mix can vary between products, so collectors should not assume that every Combined Powers Premium Collection contains the same set combination.

Each booster pack provides another opportunity to discover Pokémon, Trainer, Energy, and higher-rarity cards.

Why the booster packs matter

The 11 packs give the collection two different experiences:

Guaranteed cards:
You know which featured cards are included before opening the box.

Random booster cards:
The booster packs introduce an element of surprise.

This combination is a major part of the appeal of Premium Collections.

The Oversized Lugia ex Card

The oversized Lugia ex card is one of the most noticeable physical pieces in the box.

Oversized Pokémon cards are generally designed more for display than normal gameplay. Their larger dimensions make them difficult to use in a standard deck, but they can look impressive in a dedicated Pokémon display.

The Combined Powers version gives Lugia another visual presence beyond the standard-size foil card.

Display ideas

You could display the oversized Lugia ex:

• On a Pokémon TCG shelf
• Inside a dedicated jumbo-card holder
• Beside sealed Pokémon products
• With other Lugia cards
• As part of a Johto Legendary Pokémon display

This makes the product appealing to collectors who enjoy showing their Pokémon cards rather than keeping everything inside a binder.

Are the Promo Cards Tournament Legal?

The special cards included in this collection are promotional cards and are not intended for official tournament play. Specialist product information notes that the promo cards included in the collection do not have the regulation marks required for tournament legality.

That distinction is important for competitive players.

The product is primarily designed around collecting, opening packs, and displaying Pokémon cards, rather than providing a tournament-ready deck.

Combined Powers and Pokémon TCG Classic

One interesting detail about the collection is its connection to Pokémon TCG Classic.

The featured promotional cards were based on cards from Pokémon TCG Classic and use a special holo treatment. The cards were not issued with regulation marks for standard tournament use.

This gives the Combined Powers Premium Collection a connection to a separate collectible-focused Pokémon TCG product.

For collectors who enjoy the history of Pokémon cards, this makes the collection particularly interesting because the product bridges modern Pokémon TCG packaging with cards associated with Pokémon TCG Classic.

Who Is the Combined Powers Premium Collection For?

The product can appeal to several different types of Pokémon TCG fans.

For Legendary Pokémon collectors

Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Suicune are the main attraction.

Collectors who specialize in Legendary Pokémon can add all three featured Pokémon to their collection from one product.

For Lugia collectors

The product offers both a regular-size Lugia ex and an oversized Lugia ex.

That gives Lugia collectors two different versions to display or preserve.

For Johto fans

All three featured Legendary Pokémon are associated with Johto.

The collection can therefore fit naturally into a Generation II or Johto-themed collection.

For booster pack collectors

With 11 booster packs included, the product also provides a substantial opening experience.

The exact packs can vary, so opening the collection can be part of the fun.

Combined Powers Premium Collection vs. Elite Trainer Box

The Combined Powers Premium Collection serves a different purpose from an Elite Trainer Box.

An ETB usually focuses on providing booster packs alongside gameplay accessories such as sleeves, dice, Energy cards, markers, and a storage box.

The Combined Powers Premium Collection instead places greater emphasis on featured Pokémon, special foil cards, and display pieces.

Feature	Combined Powers Premium Collection	Typical Elite Trainer Box
Featured Pokémon promos	Yes	Usually 1
Booster packs	11	Usually around 9–11 depending on product
Oversized card	Yes	No
Foil Pokémon Tool cards	Yes	No
Mr. Mime foil	Yes	No
Card sleeves	No	Yes
Damage dice	No	Yes
Energy cards	No	Yes
Player’s guide	No	Usually
Storage box	No	Usually

The Combined Powers product is therefore structured more around collecting and display, while an ETB typically provides a broader set of gameplay accessories.

Why the Combined Powers Theme Works

The name “Combined Powers” reflects the product’s central idea: several powerful Pokémon are brought together in one collection.

Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Suicune are all highly recognizable Legendary Pokémon associated with Johto. Bringing them together creates a clear theme that is easy for collectors to understand.

The collection also adds variety through Mr. Mime and the three foil Pokémon Tool cards.

Instead of receiving a box filled with only booster packs, collectors get a mixture of:

• Legendary Pokémon
• Promotional cards
• Foil Trainer cards
• An oversized card
• Booster packs

That gives the product several different collecting angles.
