Paradox Rift Elite Trainer Box

The Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Paradox Rift Elite Trainer Box takes collectors into a world where the past and future collide.

Released on November 3, 2023, Paradox Rift introduced a wide range of Ancient and Future Pokémon, including powerful Pokémon such as Roaring Moon ex, Sandy Shocks ex, Iron Valiant ex, and Iron Hands ex. The expansion also features Pokémon that can use Terastallization to gain new types.

The Elite Trainer Box brings this time-travel-inspired theme into a complete Pokémon TCG product. It includes nine Paradox Rift booster packs, a full-art promo card featuring Scream Tail or Iron Bundle, themed card sleeves, Energy cards, gameplay accessories, and a collector’s storage box.

For collectors, the ETB offers sealed Paradox Rift booster packs and a dedicated promo. For players, it provides accessories that can be used for deck building and gameplay.

What Is the Paradox Rift Elite Trainer Box?

An Elite Trainer Box, commonly called an ETB, combines booster packs with accessories for Pokémon TCG players and collectors.

The standard Paradox Rift ETB contains nine Paradox Rift booster packs and one full-art foil promo featuring either Scream Tail or Iron Bundle. The exact promo and sleeve artwork depend on the ETB version.

It also includes 65 themed card sleeves, 45 Energy cards, dice, condition markers, a Player’s Guide, storage, and a Pokémon TCG Live code card.

Meet Scarlet & Violet—Paradox Rift

Paradox Rift is a Scarlet & Violet expansion built around the idea of Pokémon from different points in time appearing together.

The expansion features Ancient Pokémon alongside Future Pokémon, creating one of the clearest themes in the Scarlet & Violet TCG.

Ancient Pokémon include:

• Roaring Moon ex
• Sandy Shocks ex
• Other Ancient Pokémon

Future Pokémon include:

• Iron Valiant ex
• Iron Hands ex
• Iron Bundle
• Other Future Pokémon

The official Pokémon product description highlights this clash between Ancient and Future Pokémon as one of the defining elements of Paradox Rift.

The result is an expansion with two very different visual and gameplay themes.

---

Ancient Pokémon Take on the Past

Ancient Pokémon represent creatures connected to the distant past.

One of the most recognizable is Roaring Moon ex.

Roaring Moon has a powerful, prehistoric design that fits naturally with the Ancient Pokémon theme.

Another featured Ancient Pokémon is Sandy Shocks ex, which brings a futuristic-looking interpretation of a Pokémon into the Ancient category.

This contrast is part of what makes Paradox Rift interesting.

The expansion does not simply divide Pokémon into traditional types. Instead, the Ancient and Future categories create another layer of identity within the Scarlet & Violet series.

---

Future Pokémon Represent the Other Side

Future Pokémon provide the opposite side of the Paradox Rift concept.

Iron Valiant ex and Iron Hands ex are among the major Future Pokémon highlighted by Pokémon.

Iron Valiant combines elements of several familiar Pokémon while giving them a futuristic mechanical appearance.

Iron Hands, meanwhile, has a distinctly artificial design that fits the Future theme.

The contrast between these Pokémon and the Ancient Pokémon creates the central visual concept of the expansion.

---

Roaring Moon ex Takes Center Stage

Roaring Moon ex is one of the most recognizable Pokémon associated with Paradox Rift.

Its Ancient classification connects it directly to the expansion’s past-themed Pokémon.

The ETB reinforces this theme through its card sleeves, which feature Roaring Moon or Iron Valiant, depending on the product version.

For collectors, this gives the ETB a direct connection to one of the expansion’s major Pokémon.

Roaring Moon also adds a strong Dragon- and Dark-type presence to the set’s overall character.

---

Iron Valiant ex and the Future Theme

On the opposite side of the timeline is Iron Valiant ex.

Iron Valiant represents the Future Pokémon theme and is one of the Pokémon highlighted in the official Paradox Rift product description.

The combination of Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant gives collectors two very different themes to explore.

This contrast is also reflected in the two main ETB sleeve designs.

One centers on Roaring Moon, while the other features Iron Valiant.

---

Nine Paradox Rift Booster Packs

The standard Paradox Rift Elite Trainer Box contains nine booster packs.

Each booster pack contains randomly selected cards from the expansion.

Opening an ETB therefore does not guarantee a specific Pokémon, rarity, or chase card.

Instead, each pack provides another opportunity to discover cards from the Paradox Rift collection.

Collectors may be looking for:

• Roaring Moon ex
• Iron Valiant ex
• Iron Hands ex
• Sandy Shocks ex
• Garchomp ex
• Gholdengo ex
• Special Illustration Rare cards
• Illustration Rare cards
• Trainer cards
• Other Ancient Pokémon
• Other Future Pokémon

The randomized nature of booster packs is an important part of the Pokémon TCG collecting experience.

---

Terastallization in Paradox Rift

Paradox Rift also continues the Terastal mechanic introduced during the Scarlet & Violet era.

The official product description highlights Garchomp ex and Mewtwo ex among the Pokémon that can Terastallize and gain new types.

This adds another layer to the expansion.

Collectors can therefore explore several Scarlet & Violet themes at the same time:

• Ancient Pokémon
• Future Pokémon
• Pokémon ex
• Terastal Pokémon
• Illustration cards
• Special-rarity cards

This combination gives Paradox Rift a broad identity within the Scarlet & Violet series.

---

Other Pokémon Featured in

Paradox Rift Elite Trainer Box

Paradox Rift is not limited to Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant.

The official Pokémon product description also highlights:

• Garchomp ex
• Mewtwo ex
• Armarouge ex
• Gholdengo ex
• Sandy Shocks ex
• Iron Hands ex

This variety gives collectors several different Pokémon themes to follow.

Gholdengo ex, in particular, brings a distinctive Paldea character into the expansion, while Garchomp adds another recognizable Pokémon to the collection.

---

Scream Tail or Iron Bundle Promo Card

One of the defining features of the standard Paradox Rift ETB is its full-art foil promo card.

The promo features either Scream Tail or Iron Bundle, depending on the ETB configuration.

This is an important distinction when purchasing the product.

Scream Tail belongs to the Ancient Pokémon category, while Iron Bundle represents the Future Pokémon side.

The two promo options therefore fit perfectly with the central theme of Paradox Rift.

Collectors interested in completing the ETB variants may want to identify which promo version is included before purchasing.

---

65 Roaring Moon or Iron Valiant Card Sleeves

The ETB includes 65 card sleeves featuring either Roaring Moon or Iron Valiant.

These sleeves continue the Ancient-versus-Future theme throughout the product.

Players can use the sleeves to protect a standard 60-card Pokémon TCG deck.

Collectors can also use them to protect favorite Paradox Rift cards or cards from other expansions.

The extra sleeves can be useful as replacements if some become damaged during gameplay.

---

45 Pokémon TCG Energy Cards

The Paradox Rift Elite Trainer Box contains 45 Pokémon TCG Energy cards.

Energy cards are essential for gameplay because they provide the resources Pokémon need to use their attacks.

For newer players, the Energy cards can be useful when learning how to construct a deck.

For experienced players, they can provide additional resources for testing and modifying decks.

This practical element is one reason Elite Trainer Boxes remain popular with both players and collectors.

---

Dice and Condition Markers

The ETB includes several gameplay accessories.

These include:

• 6 damage-counter dice
• 1 competition-legal coin-flip die
• 2 plastic condition markers

Damage-counter dice can be placed on Pokémon to keep track of damage during a match.

The coin-flip die can be used whenever a card effect requires a coin flip.

The condition markers help identify Special Conditions affecting Pokémon.

Together, these accessories make the ETB ready to support Pokémon TCG gameplay.

---

Paradox Rift Player’s Guide

A Player’s Guide to the Paradox Rift expansion is included.

The guide provides a convenient reference for the expansion and can help collectors explore its card pool.

It can also help players familiarize themselves with the Pokémon, Trainer cards, and mechanics introduced in the set.

For collectors building a Paradox Rift collection, the guide can also serve as a useful reference when tracking cards.

---

Collector’s Box and Four Dividers

The Paradox Rift Elite Trainer Box comes with a collector’s box containing four dividers.

The storage box can be used to organize cards and accessories.

Collectors can separate their cards into categories such as:

• Ancient Pokémon
• Future Pokémon
• Trainer cards
• Energy cards
• Duplicate cards
• Deck-building materials

The box also keeps the original ETB accessories together.

For sealed collectors, the collector’s box forms part of the original product configuration.

---

Pokémon TCG Live Code Card

The Paradox Rift Elite Trainer Box includes a code card for Pokémon Trading Card Game Live.

This gives the physical product a digital connection.

Players who use Pokémon TCG Live can redeem eligible codes as part of their digital Pokémon TCG experience.

For collectors, the code card is also part of the original contents of the ETB.

---

Pokémon Center Paradox Rift Elite Trainer Box

There is also a separate Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box for Paradox Rift.

The Pokémon Center edition contains 11 booster packs, which is two more than the standard ETB.

It also contains two full-art foil promo cards:

• One Scream Tail or Iron Bundle promo

This makes the Pokémon Center version a distinct product configuration rather than simply another standard ETB design.
