Evolving Skies Elite Trainer Box

The Pokémon TCG: Sword & Shield—Evolving Skies Elite Trainer Box is one of the standout sealed products from the Sword & Shield era. Released on September 17, 2021, the ETB combines booster packs, playable accessories, storage, and striking Eevee Evolutions artwork in one collector-friendly package.

Evolving Skies is especially notable for bringing together Eevee and all of its Evolutions in the same expansion. The set also introduced powerful Dragon-type Pokémon such as Rayquaza VMAX and Duraludon VMAX, creating a broad mix of Pokémon for collectors and players to explore.

For anyone building an Evolving Skies collection, opening packs, or simply appreciating Sword & Shield-era sealed products, the Evolving Skies Elite Trainer Box offers a memorable way to experience the expansion.

What Is the Evolving Skies Elite Trainer Box?

An Elite Trainer Box, commonly called an ETB, is designed to combine booster packs with essential Pokémon TCG accessories.

The Evolving Skies ETB follows the traditional Sword & Shield ETB format. It contains eight Evolving Skies booster packs, card sleeves, Energy cards, dice, condition markers, a player’s guide, a rulebook, and a collector’s storage box.

Unlike some newer Elite Trainer Boxes, the original Evolving Skies ETB does not include a dedicated promo card.

Instead, its appeal comes from the combination of sealed Evolving Skies packs and its distinctive Eevee Evolution-themed accessories.

Evolving Skies Elite Trainer Box Contents

Each standard Evolving Skies Elite Trainer Box includes:

• 8 Pokémon TCG: Sword & Shield—Evolving Skies booster packs
• 65 card sleeves featuring Eevee’s Evolutions
• 45 Pokémon TCG Energy cards
• 1 player’s guide
• 1 Pokémon TCG rulebook
• 6 damage-counter dice
• 1 competition-legal coin-flip die
• 2 acrylic condition markers
• 1 collector’s box
• 4 dividers
• 1 Pokémon TCG Online code card

The booster packs provide the main opening experience, while the accessories make the box useful beyond opening day.

Two Standard Evolving Skies Elite Trainer Box Designs

One of the interesting aspects of Evolving Skies is that the standard Elite Trainer Box was released in two different artwork configurations.

One design focuses on:

• Umbreon
• Flareon
• Jolteon
• Leafeon

The other features:

• Sylveon
• Vaporeon
• Glaceon
• Espeon

The two versions contain the same basic ETB contents. The major difference is the Pokémon featured on the box and sleeves.

This gives Eevee Evolution collectors an additional reason to look for both designs.

The Umbreon, Flareon, Jolteon & Leafeon Design

This version highlights four of Eevee’s Evolutions, including Umbreon and Leafeon.

Umbreon is particularly recognizable among Pokémon collectors, while Flareon and Jolteon represent two of Eevee’s original elemental Evolutions.

The combination creates a darker and more energetic visual identity for the ETB.

The Sylveon, Vaporeon, Glaceon & Espeon Design

The second design features Sylveon, Vaporeon, Glaceon, and Espeon.

The sleeves and packaging give collectors a different visual interpretation of the Evolving Skies theme while keeping the same eight-pack ETB configuration.

For collectors interested in completing a sealed Evolving Skies display, owning both standard designs creates a more complete presentation.

Why Evolving Skies Elite Trainer Box Is So Popular

The Evolving Skies Elite Trainer Box is closely associated with the appeal of the Evolving Skies expansion itself.

The set brought together Eevee and all of its Evolutions, with the Evolutions appearing across Pokémon V and Pokémon VMAX cards. The expansion also introduced Dragon-type Pokémon such as Rayquaza VMAX and Duraludon VMAX.

That combination gives Evolving Skies several different collecting themes.

Eevee and the Eeveelutions

Eevee has always been one of Pokémon’s most collectible characters, and Evolving Skies puts its Evolutions at the center of the expansion.

Collectors can find:

• Umbreon
• Espeon
• Sylveon
• Leafeon
• Glaceon
• Vaporeon
• Jolteon
• Flareon

The ETB itself reinforces this theme through its packaging and card sleeves.

Rayquaza VMAX

Rayquaza is another major attraction of Evolving Skies.

The expansion introduced Rayquaza VMAX, one of the Dragon-type Pokémon highlighted during the product launch.

For collectors who enjoy Dragon-type Pokémon, Rayquaza gives the set a strong additional identity beyond the Eeveelutions.

Duraludon VMAX and Dragon-Type Pokémon

Evolving Skies also marked the return of Dragon-type Pokémon to the Pokémon TCG.

Dragon-type cards brought a different strategic approach because of their Energy requirements. The original product information specifically highlighted Dragon-type Pokémon such as Duraludon VMAX and Rayquaza VMAX.

This helped make Evolving Skies more than an Eevee-focused expansion.

Opening Evolving Skies Elite Trainer Box

The ETB gives collectors eight opportunities to open Evolving Skies booster packs.

Each booster pack is randomly packed, so there is no guarantee that a particular Pokémon, rarity, or alternate-art style card will appear.

Pokémon Support explains that booster packs are randomly packed and that ETBs contain the same booster packs that can be purchased separately. ETB booster packs do not receive a special pull rate simply because they are inside an Elite Trainer Box.

That makes every opening unpredictable.

You might be looking for a particular Eeveelution, a Rayquaza card, a VMAX, a full-art Pokémon, or another card that completes your collection.

The Card Sleeves

The Evolving Skies Elite Trainer Box includes 65 themed card sleeves.

The sleeves are more than a decorative accessory. They can be used to protect cards during casual play, deck building, or collection organization.

Because the sleeves feature Eevee’s Evolutions, they also contribute to the collectible identity of the ETB.

For sealed collectors, the sleeves are part of the original product configuration and help preserve the visual theme of the box.

Energy Cards and Gameplay Accessories

The 45 Energy cards make the ETB practical for players who are building or modifying decks.

The box also includes:

• Six damage-counter dice
• One competition-legal coin-flip die
• Two acrylic condition markers
• A Pokémon TCG rulebook

These components were part of the traditional Sword & Shield Elite Trainer Box format.

The accessories make the ETB suitable for someone who wants more than just booster packs.

The Collector’s Storage Box

The Evolving Skies Elite Trainer Box also includes a collector’s box with four dividers.

This is useful for organizing:

• Pokémon cards
• Trainer cards
• Energy cards
• Deck-building materials
• Sleeves
• Other small TCG accessories

For collectors, the box also helps preserve the original presentation of the product.

Evolving Skies Elite Trainer Box

There is also a separate Pokémon Center Exclusive Elite Trainer Box for Evolving Skies.

It should not be confused with the two standard ETB designs.

The Pokémon Center version contains 10 Evolving Skies booster packs, two more than the standard ETB. It also includes a special Eevee collector’s pin and a metallic Pokémon coin featuring Vaporeon, Espeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon.

Its contents include:

• 10 Evolving Skies booster packs
• Eevee collector’s pin
• 65 themed card sleeves
• 45 Energy cards
• Player’s guide
• Pokémon TCG rulebook
• 6 damage-counter dice
• Competition-legal coin-flip die
• Metallic Pokémon coin
• 2 acrylic condition markers
• Collector’s box with 4 dividers
• Pokémon TCG Online code card

This makes the Pokémon Center ETB a distinct product rather than simply another artwork version of the standard ETB.

Evolving Skies Elite Trainer Box for Collectors

The Evolving Skies ETB represents a particular period in Pokémon TCG product design.

Its eight-pack configuration, 45 Energy cards, themed sleeves, and traditional acrylic markers reflect the Sword & Shield era of Elite Trainer Boxes.

Collectors interested in sealed Pokémon products may also appreciate the fact that the standard ETB was produced in two different visual configurations.

The Pokémon Center edition adds another layer to the product family through its exclusive pin, metallic coin, and additional booster packs.

When purchasing a sealed Evolving Skies ETB, collectors should pay attention to the exact version, packaging condition, language, and seller reputation.
